Cambridge Restaurant Viale Creates 2 Healthy Recipes For Food For Free

On November 20, 2021, Central Square restaurant Viale is hosting their annual benefit brunch to support Food For Free. This longstanding, yearly event is one of the most beloved Food For Free benefits, and it is obvious why. The Food For Free Benefit Brunch at Viale combines delicious food and support to fight food insecurity in our community.

And thanks to the generosity of the Viale owners and staff, 100% of the brunch proceeds are donated to Food For Free!

This year, Viale is sharing even more with the Food For Free community. Executive Chef/Owner of Viale, Greg Reeves, has developed 2 wholesome and tasty recipes based on the ingredients in Food For Free’s Just Eats Grocery Boxes. These recipes will be included in the Just Eats boxes delivered to community members in November, and will help guide recipients to cook chef-inspired meals at home with the nutritious ingredients provided by Food For Free.

Food For Free’s Just Eats program was initiated in December to replace and improve upon the USDA’s pandemic response Farmers to Families food box program. Just Eats began with serving 500 local families in need. This program has grown significantly since its inception. Today, Food For Free assembles and distributes over 3,000 boxes of nutritious food every week around the Greater Boston area!

Each Just Eats box includes approximately twenty-five pounds of fresh produce such as leafy greens, potatoes, onions, carrots, and fresh fruit, as well as pantry staples like rice, beans, and lentils. The program provides food boxes to many partners, including food pantries, low-income housing facilities, and schools in Boston, Cambridge, Chelsea, East Boston, Revere, Somerville, Waltham, and other local communities.

Food For Free is grateful for Viale’s continued generosity and creativity, and we know these recipes will bring joy to many families! If you are interested in joining us for this benefit brunch, please call for reservations at 617-576-1900. Learn more on our events page here.
