Cambridge, MA (January 12, 2024)Food For Free, the Cambridge and Somerville-based, non-profit organization dedicated to providing people across Eastern Massachusetts facing food insecurity with reliable access to fresh and nutritious food, has received 12 grants from a variety of community and corporate organizations. These are grants that were received between October 2023 and January 2024 and will help Food For Free continue to provide food to members of the community who need it most.

The grants came from the following community and corporate organizations:

Akamai Foundation

Bushrod H. Campbell & Adah F. Hall Charity Fund

Cambridge Community Foundation

Cambridge Savings Charitable Foundation

The Ludcke Foundation

Popeyes Foundation

Sanofi Genzyme

The Timothy and Deborah Moore Foundation

Wagner Foundation

The Cambridge Savings Charitable Foundation, Ludcke Foundation, and Sanofi Genzyme have invested significantly in the overall growth and expansion of Food For Free. This funding will support our organization as we keep our programs running efficiently to better serve our community.

The Cambridge Savings Charitable Foundation and The Timothy and Deborah Moore Foundation have provided significant support towards Food For Free’s Heat-n-Eats program. Heat-n-Eats makes it possible to distribute prepared food—a category of rescued food that is difficult to utilize and might otherwise end up in landfills—in a way that is extremely convenient for people who face barriers to cooking for themselves. These barriers include lack of kitchen space, expensive grocery costs, insufficient time, and lack of transportation to grocery stores that ultimately contribute to food insecurity. In FY24, Food For Free will expand the creation of Heat-n-Eats meals by rescuing an additional 60,000 pounds of food.

We are also excited to highlight The Timothy and Deborah Moore Foundation and the Popeyes Foundation as first-time donors to our organization. We are grateful for their contributions to support our mission and thankful for these new partnerships.

Food For Free is grateful for the continued support of community and corporate partners.
