Are you looking for an engaging and meaningful team-building activity for your employees?

We invite you to volunteer with Food For Free! Two programs are available for corporate volunteer opportunities, Just Eats and Heat-n-Eats. Whether this is your first company team-building volunteer event, or you are seasoned pros, Food For Free provides a fun, easy, and engaging experience!

“Research has shown that employees prefer to work for companies invested in charitable causes, and volunteering with Food For Free is a terrific way to facilitate this at a relatively low cost to you.”

What people are saying about volunteering at Food For Free:

What you will do:

Just Eats Grocery Boxes: Your employees will pack our Just Eats grocery boxes in an assembly-line style at our Somerville location. The setting is dynamic, fast, and physical – we guarantee your team will love it! The boxes you’ll pack are distributed by Food For Free trucks to food-insecure individuals and families through partnerships with various community organizations, schools, and housing sites in Eastern Massachusetts.

Volunteer shift: Maximum 15 people per shift

Just Eats operates on:
Tuesdays and Wednesdays
9:00 am to 11:00 am and 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm

Heat-n-Eats Meal Program: Your employees will repurpose rescued food into healthy meals through our Heat-n-Eats meal program. Based out of our kitchen in Kendall Square, this group will unpack frozen, prepared food rescued from local hospitals, university, and corporate dining halls and repackage them into single-serve meals. The meals you create will be distributed through colleges and meal programs for people who face barriers to cooking for themselves.

Volunteer shift: Maximum 6 people per shift

Heat-n-Eats operates on:

Tuesdays 3-5 pm and 5:30-7:30 pm

Wednesdays 3-5 pm and 5:30-7:30 pm

Thursdays 9:30-11:30 am and 12-2 pm

Support Food For Free

Food For Free asks our corporate groups to support the work we do by making a minimum service day donation of $1500 for Just Eats and $750 for the Heat-n-Eats volunteer shifts. This is common among non-profits in the Greater Boston area that provide volunteer opportunities for corporations, and this policy is due to the extra coordination and training efforts that are made by our staff to accommodate these experiences.
