Logistics Specialist 1

Overview:

Full-time at $24.04/hour

The Logistics Specialist is responsible for executing all of Food For Free’s hunger relief operations in support of its mission. We are seeking a flexible, dependable person who is eager to take on new challenges and is dedicated to providing excellent service to the people and organizations we support. Some days will be driving for our food rescue and distribution programs, and some days will be in our warehouse.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Pickups and deliveries made using organization’s vehicles
  • Warehouse delivery intake, inventory, and order picking
  • Continuously strive for efficiency, safety, impact, reliability, and responsiveness
  • Ensure all food acquisition and distribution is tracked and easily reportable
  • Help maintain facilities, truck fleet, cold storage, and other equipment
  • Other duties as assigned
Relationships/Communications
  • Develop an understanding of food donor/recipient needs and expectations
  • Communicate with other departments, teammates, and clients in a timely and professional manner

Essential Skills/Responsibilities

  • Personal honesty and integrity
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • 3-5 year(s) professional experience
  • Experience operating commercial vehicles (cargo vans up to 26’ box trucks) on narrow city streets and in traffic conditions
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly throughout day, every day
  • Confidence and decisiveness balanced with an open, collaborative work ethic
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions in all seasons, including inclement weather, extreme heat and cold
  • Must be able to utilize mobile devices for daily record keeping
  • Excellent interpersonal/relationship skills – a proactive communicator and comfortable working with people from diverse ethnic, educational, and professional backgrounds
  • Commitment to social justice, and food justice in particular
  • Experience operating powered pallet jack preferred (training and certification provided)
