The Classy Awards honor today’s most innovative nonprofit organizations and social enterprises
Cambridge, Mass. — June 9, 2021 — Today, Classy, creator of world-class online fundraising software for nonprofits, named Food For Free as one of its 50 Finalists for the 2021 Classy Awards. The Classy Awards were launched in 2009 to shine a spotlight on outstanding programs run by social impact organizations around the world, and today, we’re proud to share that our 2020 pandemic hunger relief work has been recognized for its impact on fighting hunger in Greater Boston.
Food For Free, the Cambridge-based, non-profit organization dedicated to providing every member of the Greater Boston community with reliable access to fresh and nutritious food, was chosen as a finalist based on its impressive work in 2020 to fight hunger during the pandemic. Throughout the year, Food For Free was able to shift, pivot and grow and developed new innovative programs like its Just Eats grocery box. In 2020, Food For Free distributed more than 4.7 million pounds of nutritious food, more than double the amount it distributed in 2019.
