Life Science Cares Grant Supports Food For Free’s Expansion

New grant secures funding to expand non-profit’s truck fleet

Cambridge, MA (January 14th, 2020)–Food For Free, the Cambridge-based, non-profit organization dedicated to providing every member of the Greater Boston community with reliable access to fresh and nutritious food, today announced a generous grant from Life Science CaresSM. Life Science Cares’ grant will have a significant impact on Food For Free’s ability to feed more people by enabling the addition of a new leased truck and driver to support the expansion of school markets.

“This grant will give us the ability to reach more people in need,” said Sasha Purpura, Food For Free’s Executive Director. “With another truck and driver to add to our team, we will be able to expand our free school markets that have been so effective in reaching school-aged children and their families.”

“We have worked closely with Food For Free for a while now, helping source food donations and recruit volunteers for their programs,” said Sarah MacDonald, Executive Director, Life Science CaresSM. “We’ve seen the impact of their work and we are pleased to help be a part of their expansion.”
