Food For Free is on the move!
We're outgrown our current space as the demand for our programs is growing. Our new packing and distribution center on Inner Belt Road in Somerville will help us:
Distribute over 5 million pounds of food over the next year to community partners
Reach up to 2,000 families through school programs next year
Supporting markets at 12 schools, including 4 NEW markets in Somerville
Bring weekend meals to 300 kids at 5 summer camps THIS SUMMER
Serve over 400 seniors and people with disabilities through our Home Delivery program
Re-start and eventually expanding our packaged meals program, which was discontinued during the pandemic
Wait, didn't Food For Free just open up a packing center in East Cambridge a few months go?
Yes! Our space at 73 First Street in East Cambridge was always going to be temporary. Our landlord, Urban Spaces, generously rented us the space well below market rates with the understanding that it was a short-term solution. Our programs keep growing! Even if we could stay at 73 First Street, we’ve already outgrown it!
