It’s Friday morning. Ellenor is working with volunteers as I type this to bag up the backpack food with strict sanitary guidelines. (Ellenor is always hard-core about sanitation. It’s one of the many reasons we love her.) Somerville Public Schools liaisons are contacting Backpack Program families with pick-up locations where they can pick up their child’s bag–if they choose to.

We should emphasize two things. First, this is our one-off solution for today. We’re still working with the schools to determine the best approach for the coming weeks.

Second–AND IMPORTANT–this is just for families already participating in the Somerville Weekend Backpack Program.

We are working with Cambridge and Somerville to develop solutions to roll out for the wider community over the next week(s).
