Volunteer Spotlight: Ken Osgood celebrates 5 years at Field of Greens

Ken at Field of Greens

Program: Field of Greens

Ken has been volunteering with Field of Greens since September 2014!

Why do you volunteer with us and what do you enjoy about volunteering?

I had been a donor to Food For Free for several years (which is how I knew about Field of Greens) and had retired that year. Having spent much of my high school and college years working seasonally at a nearby apple orchard, I remember how very satisfying it was to follow a crop through the seasons. I also enjoy the company of the volunteers and staff who make up the program.

Any other fun details about yourself that you’d like to share?

I followed then Field of Greens program manager Matt Crawford to Boston Area Gleaners that Fall (2014) and have also been a regular volunteer there ever since. In fact, I’ll be at the Food Project down the road from Lindentree picking carrots this afternoon.Ken and other volunteers hare
